When is the last time you got a good night’s sleep? Lack of sleep is the number one cause of stress. It affects your entire life, not just overall health but and fitness levels but also had a direct link to how happy we are and even our metabolism. In short, it is a huge contributory factor to our overall wellbeing.
So if you are you having trouble sleeping isn’t it worth your while considering a new mattress.
When trying to improve our overall health and fitness we tend to focus on diet and exercise. Yet we spend almost a quarter of our lives in bed. More time than we spend eating, drinking and exercising combined. All of which are the focus of a healthy lifestyle. So isn’t it right to consider a new mattress?
So, how can a mattress help you get a good night’s sleep?
The most important thing to do when looking for a new mattress is to test it. You wouldn’t buy a car without taking it for a test drive. Go into any Hanley’s Furniture store and take the time to test out our extensive range of mattresses. Our friendly and professional staff are on hand to answer any questions you may have. So what sort of questions should you ask when choosing the perfect mattress?
Should I choose a soft, medium or firm mattress?
A mattress is person specific. And no one-size fits all will do. The mattress for you will depend on your shape, size and body-form. It is most important to choose a good mattress with firm spinal support.
Mattresses should be replaced every eight to ten years so it is important to choose wisely.
Try before you buy.
So you are in a Hanley’s Furniture showroom. Why not try before you buy. Slip off your shoes. Lie down. Make yourself comfortable and give the mattress a test drive. Take five or ten minutes to try out different positions. We move around in our sleep dozens of times every night. So try out numerous sleeping positions on a number of different mattresses. Be comfortable in your bed and you will be comfortable with your decision.
Caring for your mattress
Once you have chosen the perfect mattress you will need to take care of it. Mattresses need to be turned regularly. Rotate your mattress weekly in the first month to allow the mattress to settle evenly. And then rotate four times per year. An even and firm distribution is what you are aiming for. No bumps , bulges or creases. This will give you a good night’s sleep and extend the lifetime of your mattress.
Mattress protectors will add to your comfort as well as extend the life of your mattress. You might not like to hear it but we all perspire. In fact as much as one pint of sweat can be lost every night. A mattress protector is there to soak up this moisture and protect the springs and filling of the mattress. A mattress protector can be popped in the washing machine. I know which I prefer.
All Hanley’s Furniture staff are happy to help with any questions you may have about choosing the perfect mattress.
